VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Volunteers can help low-income Houstonians get free tax preparation assistance.
Volunteers
Beginning Volunteers should focus on VITA Basic training and passing the certification exam or volunteer in one of our uncertified positions.
Training
Class Objectives:
a . Basic class To learn basic tax law and software in order to prepare individual income tax returns for low income families.
b . Refresher class To learn tax law updates for upcoming individual income tax filing season.
c . Link and Learn To learn tax law updates for upcoming individual income tax filing season.
2 . Prerequisites :
a . Basic class experience level (none), advance preparation required (none), teaching method used (classroom instruction),
recommended credit hours (24).
b . Refresher class experience level (3 or more years in individual tax preparation), advance preparation required (none), teaching
method used (classroom instruction), recommended credit hours (8).
c . Link and Learn experience level (3 or more years in individual tax preparation), advance preparation required (none), teaching method
used (online instruction), recommended credit hours (4).
